A Letter From the Editor
September 29, 2001
Dear Friends,
It is with great optimism and also great sadness that we present the first anniversary issue of Architecture Ink.
One year ago, we began our on-line presence with the publication of the first issue of this digital journal. Today as we admire our impressive accomplishments, we see them in a new perspective - cast in shadow by the tremendous loss of life and physical infrastructure that will forever change our lives.
At Architecture Ink, our mission remains intact. I have re-read our mission statement and believe that there is nothing more to add, nor anything extraneous to subtract. We remain committed to, "investigating the past, present, and future of our built environment." And in light of recent events, we assure you that our investigations will continue relentlessly, as we endeavor to clear the wreckage from our minds and forge ahead with the excavation of, and contribution to, the wealth of information that is left in the tumultuous digital wake of our burgeoning communications age.
As we all continue to cope with the magnitude of this tragedy, Architecture Ink welcomes our readers' journals, poetry, prose, research, photos, and artwork. Even more than the terrorist act itself, it is the reaction to this horrible act of destruction that will define our new world, and we wish to chronicle and inspire your thoughts and emotions as our digital voice reaches out into the unbounded ether.
Thank you all for your support over the last year.
Sincerely,
| R. D. Kushner |
