Construction Challenged - Part Three: "Thou Shalt Not Paint Anything Thou Cannot See"

 

I know it's a big mistake but I can't help myself. I'm asking peoples opinions on what I should do.

The Eleventh Commandment:

Thou shalt not paint anything thou cannot see.

My Lawyer Maureen says: "No paint should touch, including but not limited to: the tops of doors, closets, and that little room that has the hot water heater."

My Broker Marvin says: "Listen Linda, the Market is going to go back up. As soon as the market takes a turn for the better you will be able to afford the paint for the tops of the doors and the closets. If it were me though, I would not paint the little room with the hot water heater. The only time people would open that door is if they are lost in your house and mistakenly think its the bathroom."

My Accountant Phil says: "Can you fit a desk and chair in the little room with the hot water heater? If so, we can write that off as office space so go ahead and paint it."

AMEN!

 

 

Construction Challenged - Part 4: "Spackling the Spackle"

 

Now I know what you're thinking. How could one person have so much to say about Spackle?! But I just found out that you can't spackle, spackle. I'm back in the bathroom sanding and putting more spackle over the areas that aren't completely smooth. I finished one wall and was working on the next when Rachel walked in and said, "MOM, are the walls supposed to look like that?!" [kids are so helpful] I turned around and Oh my GOD, the spackle is peeling off! It looks exactly like the walls looked the first time I walked in. Several four letter expletives shot out my mouth at the speed of sound, meaning you could actually hear the words LOUDLY as I said them. I should have left it alone and I would have been ahead of the game. So now, I'm scraping the spackled spackle, and getting ready to spackle the spackled spackle. Can you do that? Check with me in a year. I'm pretty sure I'll still be spackling!
