Superimpositions
B. Pell

fresh ink

While travelling in Eastern Europe, I was struck by the confluence of disparate activities, particularly in the relatively young revitalization of Berlin. In an effort to document the aura of mass-construction and an overall new-zeitgeist in Berlin, I systematically triple-exposed a roll of film to capture three different conditions in accidental superimpositions: field, text, and figure. I then printed the uncut roll as a series of plates which capture interesting spatial configurations, and allow the imagination to take hold of some of the excitement and equivocal anxiety that Berlin is experiencing.
