The Brooklyn Bridge
is almost immediately identifiable; certain views of this bridge have become
emblematic of New York City itself. This structural icon behaves as a typical
bridge, in that it connects two points with a structural span; but upon closer
inspection, this bridge is as foreign is it is recognizable. The enormous
scale of its repetitive elements give the bridge is distinctly recognizable
presence. These elements are at once, quite literally, part of the larger
framework of the bridge's structure and also discreet works of sculpture themselves.
These photos present a variety of small works of art which comprise what is
commonly called the Brooklyn Bridge.
